About Charcoal Shading is an expressive fine art technique used to study form, contrast, texture and tonal depth. Its rich black tones and smooth blending quality make it an excellent medium for realistic drawing, figure study, portrait work and observational sketching.
In this Charcoal Shading Workshop, participants will be introduced to charcoal materials, surface preparation, tonal gradation, blending methods, erasing techniques, highlights, shadow study and composition development. They will learn how to control charcoal for both soft transitions and strong dramatic effects while working on suitable subjects such as still life, portrait, animal study or nature forms.
Designed by Himanshu Art Institute, this workshop helps learners build confidence in drawing, observation and shading while developing a refined understanding of light and form.
